Are our lives full of the joy, direction, and spiritual connection that Judaism offers? Too often, we keep mitzvos simply because… we keep mitzvos. Too often, we are “frum” on the outside and “bored” on the inside.

Not everyone lives this way. There are people we secretly envy — people who feel Torah deep in their bones, understand it, and are excited about it. People who love — and live —Torah. It is possible to live happier, deeper, and more passionate Jewish lives.

What can we do to become a little more “real”?

The first step is to get greater clarity on why we do what we do, and how it all fits together.

The first step is Reality Check: A Handbook of Hashkafah.

I highly recommend the book Reality Check, its content is quite effective and I feel that it can appeal to all readers no matter what level one may be. I read the book at least twice and discovered meaningful deep ideas that are explained clearly; and that is quite rewarding.
I appreciated this book so much that I bought several copies at Purim time and offered them to my friends.

  2. Yoni Finkelstein

As a well learned individual I was pretty skeptical about this book. I assumed it would be like the rest of these types of books… wow was I wrong! The author provides deep ideas with such clarity and sophistication. All I can say is I hope he writes a second book!!!

  3. josef edelman

Masterfully written. A very clear and pleasurable read that really breaks down a lot of questions that we’ve all been asking ourselves growing up. This book gave me a very beautiful perspective on how I relate to Torah.

  4. Brooklyn Girl

    Amazing book!!

  5. Sara Nissan

A well-researched, illuminating read! A great handbook on important themes and ideas in Judaism.
