Rabbi Yisroel Cohen is an alumnus of Yeshiva Gedolah of South Fallsburg and studied for several years at Yeshivas Harav Dovid Soloveitchik in Jerusalem, then continued his studies at Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, New Jersey. He has long-standing interests in exploring Chazal’s wisdom and thought in areas of knowledge that are beyond Talmudical hermeneutics.

His first book, Mitzrayim, Midrash and Myth, expounds Chazal’s deep knowledge of Egyptology and sharpens our understanding of the Torah’s message to a society developing on the periphery of that highly influential ancient empire. In his current book, he continues the path of shedding Chazal’s light on other worldwide ancient myths of universal import. Rabbi Cohen lives with his family in Thornhill, Ontario, and learns in kollel.
